Most car enthusiasts fall in and out of love with a car quite easily. One week they’ll be in love with an S15, next month it’ll be an RX-7 and in a year’s time it could be the FT-86. It’s not a bad thing. Human beings are fickle creatures and that’s just how we are – but now and again there are some, who find a ‘true love’ and everything changes.

I’m a believer in true love.I’m not talking about the Aston Martin DB9 that you’ve been drooling over for the last 4 years. That is lust. Or the first car you bought and learnt manual in which you now use as a beater. That is love.

True love is the car that you smash to bits but you just can’t let go. It makes you bring it back to life when it’s about to become a write-off. You feel the pain it suffers from your own stupidity. It is the car that gives you the most grief. Anyone can crash a car, fix it and sell it immediately. It takes true love to keep it and make it into something grand.

I’ve only met a few in my time who’ve had the balls to not give up on their car. Vyet is one of them. Having bought his S2K in late 2007, he’s been through ups and downs and moments where most would have called it quits. After being in an accident on the street, Vyet was faced with his biggest dilemma – give up on the car and buy a new one or save it from the wrecking yard. Fixing it meant it had to be done properly to pass all the inspections meaning it was not going to be a quick or cheap job. It wasn’t an easy choice and with the insurance on his back about it, it wasn’t long before he made his choice.

“I felt like I was giving up on it, it was not its time to go. It was not dead. I could not give up on a friend like that and that’s how the car ended up as it is today,” said Vyet. And for that reason, he turned his previous standard Monte Carlo Blue S2K into the bad motherfucker you see before you.

Respraying the entire car Platinum Pearl White. A colour that was only available for the Japanese and UK S2000 and Honda NSX.

Forcing on some wide wheels, the S2K now rocks some kick-ass silver CE28Ns – 17×9 on the front and 17×9.5 on the rear – with RE11s fitted all-round. Traction is certainly not a problem.

And slammed with Tein SRC coilovers, this car is fucking fat.

A J’s Racing catalogue was thrown at the car’s intake and exhaust. An envious feat for enthusiasts everywhere.

“The boot is a spare boot I got off my friend. It was blue and had heaps of hail damage. I decided to spray it in primer and get out some sharpies and start drawing on it. I didn’t have enough time to finish it before Honda Nats but I’m kind of lazy now to even finish it.” – Vyet.

The new setup has already allowed Vyet to smash his PB by 2 seconds on the track and that’s with him not driving it for a year while the car was being modified. The lap times will tumble down once he tames his beast.

Due to Australian laws, Vyet’s car is being pushed towards a track car – a sad sight but the reality. But refusing to conform, the S2K is still a streeter and tracked with a full interior (with a 4-point roll cage and Takata harness). A lot of courage after being defected twice – a week apart from another. But in the words of N.W.A. Fuck Tha Police.

By choosing not to give up on his true love, Vyet embarked on a long and hard road. A road that many fail to complete and give up on their true love half way. While Vyet might not keep his S2K for the rest of his life, there’ll always be a soft spot for it in his heart.

But for the rest of us, it’s just a mean fucking machine!
