VWGolf.net.au had their monthly meet yet again and despite the return of cold nights in Melbourne, a fairly large group of golf lovers braved the chill and made it to their usual spot, garage café.

Most of the guys are fairly new owners of their Golf’s so it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing a few builds here and there in the near future.

Over the weekend Wakefield Park was host to drift matsuri and the Repco pro drift championship RD 3 (stadium drift). There was a good mix of top class drivers from different states competing. I made the trip down from sydney to check out the some of the action. Some stand out cars on the day where Rob Whytes amazingly prepared 350z, Gavin Edwards LS1 powered R32 and a four door R33 that was participating in matsuri that had an extremely tough sounding externally gated RB. In the end it was Tony Harrison who took out the round. Hope you enjoy the pic’s.

Rob Whytes 350z would have to be one of the best looking drift cars out there.

Drift Mob hosted yet another successful event at Eastern Creek over the weekend. It started in the cold early hours of 7am and finished at 4.30pm so the drifters had the whole day ripping up the skidpan. Since I haven’t covered much drift events these days, I took the opportunity to head out.  As entry was free and the weather was looking so good I couldn’t help myself but attend.

There was approximately over 30 cars that participated, however only 4 had permission to enter the skid pan at a time. So, the guys formed a line at the figure 8 track.

Big ups to the DJ who was playing some sweet tunes throughout the day. Keeping the audience entertained while they were enjoying the show.

As I was walking around, I stumbled upon the Drift Mob S14 which was out of action. I wasn’t sure what was going on but they managed to fixing the issue.

And it wasn’t long before it started to go sideways.

Now time for some drifting!

This pewter grey S15 was looking the goods and also sounded awesome.

All About Stance hosted their monthly meet again at the T-Way Carpark Parklea. We arrived abit late although the meet was smaller than usual it did not stop us from taking photos.

It wasn’t the usual big meet i was expecting since the weather was so good that day. But it was good to see some cars out.

What caught my attention was this Holden commodore wagon rocking some nice fitted wheels. Which has been featured on Stance Works.

The wheels are 19inch work brombacher wheels, with VS-XX faces.

I really want this for my car!

The Honda EG has been around for almost two decades and today, is still a very popular model in the car community. Rob, the owner of this immaculate EG, went through several of them before perfecting the OG TOY. He faced a few dilemmas before making the decision to build, while staying true to the versatility of the EG.

It’s great to see such a build by a Honda fan of many years. The EG services Rob as a daily and he intends to track it at the Honda Nationals.

Let’s get to the heart of the car: Rob was planning a “K” conversion but remained dedicated to the “B” series, due to the cost and resale value. The standard motor was replaced with a B18C7 which was rebuilt, running a type R gearbox.

A little bit of history: It began in 2011 when Rob found himself contemplating whether to buy the EG shell and insert the parts he had in his previous EG (an EG6 with a B16 which he crashed). He eventually made the decision to purchase the shell and source out a B18 from a Honda EG that was written off and put them together.

Rolling on custom steelies 16×8 +0 offset wrapped in yokohamas 175/50 all round  and his second set work nezzarts 16×8 wrapped in dunlop formula R 225/45 and 215/50.

Since the shoot he has changed to a smaller profile tyre 165/45/16 +0 offset all round 16×8. Crazy!!

We encountered a few problems on the first day of the shoot. Facing flooded pathways on our journey to the secret location, we had no idea how deep the waters were and took the risk. Bad move. After two hours, we managed to get the EG out but it was too late and we had to reschedule.

The whole rear of the interior was completely stripped and a custom 6 point full cage was installed and powder coated in purple.

Usually when we attend meets we are entitled to see a various number of Japanese branded imports, but this meet was a little different. Instead of tuner import  JDM cars, this meet was an European car meet held by Euro Style Tuning at Fox Studio’s Entertainment Quarter Car park.

Being a small group of euro car enthusiasts, people where able to gather, socialize and grab food from the local pubs talking about their cars in the freezing cold!

Amongst the dominent Golf’s stood out Christina’s R32 Golf which where equipped beautifully with airbags on Work Meisters.

Sitting on Audi TT wheel was Raymond’s Audi A3 which we spotted at AllAboutStance meet on a different set of wheels. Raymond has big plans for his A3 as he is currently in the process of putting airbags in his car.

Inside Raymonds car was a carbon surrounded Gauge setup for air pressure.

There were a range of “Euro” cars such as this Renult Megane 225 F1.

Hiding its face from us was this immaculate Porsche 994.

Devin also made an appearance in his nicely stanced Golf MK3 VR6 contrasting with the newer generation Golfs. He has recently replaced his old 12v VR6 engine for another track spec built 12v VR6 engine which sounds awesome.

Stephen was possibly the only White Golf MK6 R at the meet. He informed us that he has big plans for his R to follow the path of stance. What can go wrong with that?

At a car meet there are usually always outsiders. Here are Justin Fox’s Honda Integra DC2R and Street Cover’s photographer Tony’s (Myself) car sitting in the corner.

Josh’s Golf MK5 R32 has gone though many changes through 9 months of owning his car. As one of the young European car enthusiast Josh has improved his handling of his Golf as well as adding aesthetic features whilst studying simultaneously. He has plans for his R32 with Wheels on his next mod list.

There were a few cars with the windshield stickers representing BMR Autowerkes such as Stuarts BMW 135i and Suj’s C63 AMG

These weren’t the only euro cars that were representing a group. Absolute also attended the Euro Style Tuning meet proudly representing an Absolute sticker on their windshield as well as a banner.

Out of the Absolute cars this air bagged A4 caught my eye. It was sitting beautifully on Varrstoen’s.

As one of the odd coloured Audi’s in Absolute, Andry’s A5 also offered awesome stance but riding static daily.

At the end of the day, we had no issues with the police due to Cream fields just being next door and everyone was well behaved. We hope that in the future Euro Style Tuning can set the same standards consistently and we are more than happy to cover Euro Style Tuning at their next meet. Last week JDMST held their monthly meet at WSID @ Eastern Creek in conjunction with Top Secret Imports and Project D Drift School. The location was perfect to host the meet, despite the constant smell of the waste plant nearby. It was a safe environment with no police and no defect bays waiting outside, it was the place where car enthusiasts can come together and just enjoy people’s cars and company.

The event commenced at 6pm and cars were already lining up and this continued throughout the night.

Zen Garage had a store at the meet selling some sick illest winter gear.

Sergios S15 is always and most probably will be a main attraction of any meet. It is also rocking an All Star sticker. Have you got yours?!

John’s fat MX5 Australia’s favourite made his appearance. Apparently, he is working on adding a few more things to his car so keep an eye out at the next meet!

RE-Amemiya RX7 which is rolling on 19in Volk Racing RE30s with 24-carat gold finish now belongs to Graham, I have been told he has done a fair bit of work under the bonnet and it’s about to go through some major changes. Well be sure to keep you guys updated on it.

So many nice fitted cars showed up on the night around 1,500 cars attended. I can see the growing trend in the car industry. It’s good to see everyone coming together and sharing their love for cars.

All in all, it was one of the biggest meets this year. A gold coin donation was asked at the front gates upon arrival and by the end of the night we have raised over 2,000 for the Variety Children’s Charity. Great work from the team and I’ve been hearing bigger and better meets are yet to come.

It’s been quite awhile since QLD has made a presence on the Street-Cover.com events blog, however when the time came for a nation wide holiday there was no excuse for not covering one of our supporters events.

Last Wednesday was ANZAC day and Loz from Hardtuned.net decided it’d be a good opportunity to hold their first Private Track day at Holden’s Driver Training Centre in QLD.

The track itself wasn’t too big however it made up for that by being technical in some parts of the track (or so some of the drivers say). Besides the track activity there were other activities such as the good old skid pan, timed gymkhana and a BBQ going on.

Upon arriving I noticed that majority of the cars consisted of Nissans with the odd Euro spec car or the Holden lurking around in the paddock. Looking left and then looking right, you could see the drivers with friends surrounding them only looking for one thing…and that was enjoyment and a bit of fun!

The day was overall enjoyable, I had met quite a few new faces and a few old faces. For me just watching the owners put their car through its paces was good enough for me…There was even a DJ to pump some beats and some background music!

This bad ass Sil80 with a Supermade bodykit stood out for me, this thing drew crowds around it all day despite having issues with it running.

As with all track days there is always at least One GTR….

Another great Sunday in Perth, and this one was dedicated to James Tan. James passed away in a motorcycle accident on the 5th of Feb. This event was a fundraiser to raise money to complete a shared project. This project was with one of his mates Daniel Ong and their Project One-80. As a tribute to him and his passing, his family and friends aim to complete the car by his birthday on the 28th of July.

Organised by family and friends, their plans for the day was a bikini car wash and BBQ.

Cars were lining up for the bikini car wash, with 50 cars washed and dried by the end of the day.

This very neat Integra Type R was also one of James’s cars.

It wasn’t the warmest of days, but the girls did brave it and did an awesome job of washing and drying the cars.

Yes they did rock the high heels while washing the cars during the day.

There was suppose to be a few more girls washing the cars but they didn’t show. Luckily the promo girls for Hybrid customs lent them a hand.

Some cars were already clean like this R34 GTR.

It wasn’t all just washing cars, there also some fun to be had.

The guy that bought in the Patrol got his value for money.

With the permission of the owner of these bikes (who were very keen), and the direction of Ross Wilson, we were able to take some shots of the girls on them.

James Tan Nissan 180sx build Tribute

A majority of car enthusiasts go through that phase in their life where they buy their first Honda and dreams of a k swap. Don’t get me wrong, it would be sick to do so but they eventually move on to RWD. Why? They seek more power and the occasional drift. For our friend Shao, whose first car was an EK, dreams of building a K20 went out the window when he got invited to Oran Park Raceway to see drifting for the very first time.

Having done his research and surviving on 2 minute noodles, he bought his 180SX and that’s when it all started. Keep in mind everything he did was purely DIY. As his build progressed, he made his decision to go S13 front which ended up being cheaper and it turned out to look better than expected. Sporting a standard S13 front bar with front lip and standard S13 bonnet with top stage bonnet vent.

He decided the S13 front wasn’t enough so he went wide with DMAX 30mm front guards (20mm brackets fitted to the rear mounting points for a wider look).

The rear panels were riveted on, to give it a more tough and aggressive look and the paint job was inspired by RUAH WELT satin black S15 which was done at home. The rear of the interior has been completely stripped just what is required for a drift car, handbrake, steering wheel and seat the basics for a drift car.
